Eagle Rock's Twerps Looks For a Buyer

Yet another store in Eagle Rock's toddler-friendly block is shutting down.

Twerps, a consignment store boasting a reasonably-priced selection of kids clothes, books and toys, is shutting down. It joins the now-closed Rockin' Kids Store and IMIX bookstore as another retail fatality at the corner of Eagle Rock and Colorado Blvds.

It's a shame. Ever since Blogger Boy was around 2, our weekend routine has frequently centered on a trip to Swork (where I sipped on my coffee and Evan played in the kids area) followed by visits to Rockin' Kids and Twerps.

There's still a slight chance Twerps can be saved, or another cool tenant can pop in. In its monthly newsletter, Swork put out a call for anyone interested in buying out its neighbor:

Our wonderful neighbor to the left, Twerps is selling! If you posses an imagination for retail and finally want to launch your dream place, what better location could you ask for? Just two doors away from Swork, lot’s of foot traffic and of course, right next to your favorite coffee place! You can build on the current brand or revamp and open something that you truly desire. This location will go very quick! Asking very little for the place too! 10K OBO, hardwood floors, 1500ish square feet and the rent is approximately $1250.00. Please contact MaryRose at: twerps@pacbell.net or call her at 323.428-5499.

For those of us with young kids, the corner is still a draw: The kids retailer Kumquat Outlet is still there, as is the indoor kiddie playground Peek-A-Boo Playland. And, of course, there's still Swork and the Eagle Rock library nearby.
