WEEKEND TO DO: "Back to the Future" at Street Food Cinema

Street Food Cinema

Over here at Franklin Avenue, this has become The Summer of "Back to the Future." It started when we took the kids in June to the Last Remaining Seats screening of "Back to the Future" at the Ace Hotel theatre (formerly United Artists). Then the boys bought me a Lego kit to build a mini DeLorean for Father's Day. We later DVR'ed the two BTTF sequels. Blogger Kid 2.0's vocabulary now includes terms like "Flux Capacitor."

So when I saw that the Street Food Cinema was bringing "Back to the Future" to Glendale's Verdugo Park this Saturday -- and with food trucks, no less! -- I had to check it out.

This is no ordinary outdoor screening. Besides the movie, the event will feature the actors who played Jennifer Parker (Claudia Wells) and Mayor Goldie Wilson (Donald Fullilove)! Plus: Music by The Flux Capacitors, who bill themselves as "Hollywood's ONLY Back to the Future-themed 80s cover band."

Food trucks on hand will include Berlin Truck, Chili Philosopher, Cousins Maine Lobster, Dogtown Dogs, India Jones, Mandoline Grill, Meat the Greek, Rock n Lou, Steel City Sandwich, Trailer Park Truck, Wise BBQ, The Beignet Truck, A ROCKin ICE, Sweet E's, & more, while Crazy Go Nuts, Diva'z Crepes, Funtime Kettle Corn, Mercedes Binge will also be there.
