L.A. Radio Ratings: K-Earth Extends Domination to Mornings in November

L.A. likes its classic hits.

According to Nielsen's November radio ratings, KRTH "K-Earth 101" has now extended its lead as the No. 1 radio station in Los Angeles for the fourth month in a row. KRTH has also extended its dominance to mornings, where Gary Bryan's show was No. 1 in the daypart among listeners 12 and older (and in the key listeners 25-54 demo).

Meanwhile, top 40 KIIS-FM was No. 1 throughout the day with listeners 18-34 (8.1 share) and KBIG "My FM" (104.3) with No. 1 with adults 25-54 (5.6 share).

It was also a strong month for our pals at KCRW, which jumped ahead of competitor KPCC for the first time in recent memory (1.9 share vs. 1.8 share).

Neon for Valentine's Day

Still trying to figure out your Valentine's Day plans? The Museum of Neon Art is holding special "Sweetheart Neon Cruise" this Saturday, Feb. 14.

The $150-per-couple fare includes the museum's double-decker bus tour of L.A.'s classic neon signs, as well as champagne and chocolate at MONA's downtown site. The cruise departs downtown at 7:30 p.m.; check out their website for more info.

FRANKLIN AVENUE CONTEST: Lucha VaVoom

Here's a cool pre-Valentine's Day idea: Take your honey to see Lucha VaVoom next week.

In honor of their 20th show in Los Angeles, Lucha VaVoom -- which started in 2002 -- is going all out for a special Valentine's Day show. So, what is Lucha VaVoom? It's a spectacle combining traditional Lucha libre wrestling and retro burlesque dancing. But let's let them explain:

To celebrate their historic 20th performance and inject 2009 with a dose of the risqué (and the risky), Lucha VaVoom has culled together some of the finest in titillating striptease, Mexican wrestling and cunning linguistics. In a battle of the heartthrobs, the steamy Magno and heart-pounding hunk Chilango will go to head to head in a match that is sure to make the ladies swoon. The men may need to hold on to their dates even harder as Latin Lucha Lothario Hector Garza and his Chippendales-esque physique make their debut. The gravity-defying crowd-favorite mini-chicken will ensure that Cupid’s arrow won’t be the only thing flying this Valentine’s while sexy minis, Dirty Sanchez, and the Crazy Chickens squawk up a riot. Queen of the Ring Cassandro will prove his fabulousness and why he wears the crown and there will be a special damsel-in-distress match where winner takes all.

A dazzling array of talented burlesque beauties will heat up the stage between matches. Lucy Fur and Audrey Deluxe will go paw for paw and tassel for tassel with a fur-flying striptease that is sure to not leave much to the imagination, the seductive Moana Santana returns with some really original sin. Hula-hoop gender-bender Karis will leave your jaw dropping and eyes popping with each twist of the showstopper’s hips.

The host with the most Blaine Capatch will crack wise with his comedic comrades Spongebob Squarpants’ Tom Kenny and "The Simpsons" scribe Dana Gould for some hilarious play-by-play of the night’s action.

A Valentine for "104.3 My FM"

More changes in the L.A. radio scene: Valentine, who has hosted the KYSR-FM "Star 98.7" mornign show since January (when he and Lisa Foxx took over the slot vacated by Jamie, Jack and Stench), is now moving to fill Charlie Tuna's spot at the new "104.3 My FM."

Meanwhile, changes are afoot at Star 98.7, which is actually now just referring to itself as "98.7." The station has dropped its DJs for the time being, and rumors are still swirling over whether it will flip formats.

Ultimately, the "Valentine & Lisa Foxx Show" on Star didn't make much of an impact in its nine months on the air. Prior to Star, Valentine had spent eight years in afternoon drive at Clear Channel sister KIIS-FM. At the same time, he has hosted a syndicated morning show -- heard in places such as Cleveland, for several years as well.
