Freeform's 'Halloween Road' Returns to Heritage Square, With More Candy and More Sanderson Sisters

“Freeform’s Halloween Road” is back, and this year visitors can get out of the car and experience it first hand. Held once again in Highland Park's Heritage Square, the outdoor, immersive event features the worlds of “Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas,” “Hocus Pocus,” “The Addams Family” and more.

Continuing through Tuesday, here are some of the attractions for this year's event:

• Extended “Hocus Pocus” Drag Show – In-depth drag show featuring scenes from “Hocus Pocus” and starring the Sanderson Sisters.

• Finkelstein’s Lab from “Tim Burton’s Nightmare Before Christmas”

• “The Addams Family” Mansion – Pose for a photo in Pugsley’s new electric chair.

• More trick-or-treat stations

• Halloween characters including Sarah and Winne Sanderson, Billy Butcherson, the Ghostbusters, Uncle Fester, Wednesday Addams and more

• The Sanderson Sisters’ cottage and Billy’s grave in Old Burial Hill from “Hocus Pocus”

• Spiral Hill, Halloween Town Hall, Oogie Boogie’s Lair and Lock Shock and Barrel’s Treehouse from “Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas”

• Stay Puft Marshmallow Man and the Ecto-1 from “Ghostbusters”

Halloween 2020: The Schneider Drive-In Arrives for These COVID Times

This year's office Halloween party was scratched due to COVID-19, but the PMC costume contest was on — and this year, since it was virtual, family and pets could participate. Keeping things topical, we went with the return of the drive-in theater as the kids' costumes. Evan was the big screen, while Nathan was in the car, with popcorn and goodies. Yes, the marquee gags "Covid The 19th," but really the movie was "Hocus Pocus."

Variety's Spooky List of 21 Los Angeles Film and TV Horror Sites

My colleague Pat Saperstein has put together another great L.A.-centric list of locations in Los Angeles — and this time it's horror-themed. She writes:

From “Invasion of the Body Snatchers” to “Halloween” and “Poltergeist,” Hollywood productions have found plenty of spooky locations to shoot iconic scare fare.

From everytown U.S.A. suburban houses to creepy desert gas stations and ominous cemetery gates, you don’t have to venture far outside the city to find just about any kind of location a horror film could need. Haunt-o-ween Car Maze Brings You a COVID Safe Halloween Experience

The kids won't be trick-or-treating this year, but they've already amassed quite a few treats thanks to the Freeform Halloween experience we wrote about, and now via Hauntoween LA. The drive-through experience, located on a large parking lot in Woodland Hills, features plenty of displays (including one for FX's "What We Do in the Shadows") and also A LOT of candy, courtesy workers who flood your car with sweets throughout the ride. And, midway through you even get a pumpkin to take home. More pics:
