Indie Update

With the fate of Indie 103.1 now in question, the station is hoping to stop the speculation for now.

In an internal email, posted at Radio-Info.com, program director Michael Steele tells staffers that station owner Entravision isn't planning on dropping the format, even after Clear Channel stops selling ad time on April 1:

"What this means for INDIE is this. ENTRAVISION will take back all sales of INDIE airtime on APRIL 1st. ENTRAVISION is moving forward to continue operating the station AS IT IS. That means no format change. Nothing will change as far as any of your shows go. Everyones agreements are still in place. All this means that INDIE will no longer have ANY affiliation with CLEAR CHANNEL.

"I'm sure you are all going to be hearing everything on the street from 'INDIE is going spanish' or 'dance music is coming back', etc. NOT TRUE. We are going to continue being the most creative, musically exciting thing on the radio. Don't believe the bullshit on the streets. We've created an amazing entity and I'm proud to move forward on this with all of you!! Thank you for all your hard work. Let's keep flying the INDIE flag."

As Drudge would say, "developing"...
