Broken Record Store



Paid my respects to Aron's Records on Saturday night, dropping a little over $50 on a stack of used CDs and taking one last look at the store.

As you've read elsewhere, Aron's has announced that it's going out of business after 40-odd years. The owner blames downloading and the Internet for curbing consumers' appetite for CDs, although the addition of Amoeba Music in Hollywood didn't help. It was likely a combination of things -- including Aron's tight parking lot -- that led to the store's demise.

It's always sad to see an independent music store disappear. Until Amoeba showed up, Aron's was the indie titan (at least in Hollywood and the mid city). Now, some parting shots:
