Hungry for "Hungry?"
The folks behind the "Hungry?" and "Thirsty?" guides threw a book release party Tuesday evening for the new, third edition of the Los Angeles "Hungry?" restaurant guide... and Franklin Avenue was invited.
We didn't know until the last minute whether Blogger Baby would be game to hitting the party -- but the little guy was up for the shindig (of course, he says "yes" to everything, so it's hard to tell), so off we went to Silverlake's Flor Morena Foods eatery.

We met Gina, the Hungry City staffer who sent us the invite... and of course headed straight for the food.
The party spread
One of the highlights -- the tamales
Maria and I had checked out Flor Morena before, but hadn't ever actually eaten there -- to be honest, it seemed a little too pricey for its offerings. But in a party setting, where we got to check out several different items, we were impressed by the tamales and the crabcake sandwiches.
And then... oh, the cupcakes. Add Flor Morena to the list of boffo cupcakes, particularly the red velvet. I know, I know, everyone's got a red velvet jones now, and Auntie Em's is probably still the best. But Flor Morena makes a mean one.
Cupcakes...
...and the cupcake case. I could stare and drool for hours.
We also ran into a few Franklin Avenue readers, including Jennifer, who wrote the Dodger Dog entry for the "Hungry?" guide. And we bumped into Losanjealous' Ryan, who drove all the way from his job in Santa Monica.
Check out more info about the "Hungry?" and "Thirsty?" guides here. Although, c'mon guys, update your blog!
