Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays from Franklin Avenue

A few Christmas faves, thanks to YouTube:

When I was a kid, MTV used to play this bizarre video -- usually right after Hall & Oates' goofy "Jingle Bell Rock," and before another cheesy Christmas video from someone else. It just seemed so bizarre -- and still does. Bing Crosby barely holding in his contempt for that freaky British hippie to his right. David Bowie, with his goofy joke about how "the classics" means John Lennon. But it's a pretty nice duet, straight from the generation gap to you.

The other question: Did Boy George Know It's Christmas either? Or was he hopped up on something?

Still probably my favorite holiday tune, the Pogues and Kristy MacColl, "Fairy Tale of New York."
