Los Angeles' 4 Million Stories

Feeling extra crowded out there these days? That's because it's finally official: Los Angeles has hit the magic 4 million population tally this year.

Wait, didn't that already happen? Apparently the state overestimated last year. Now, it's finally true.

The L.A. Daily News has the info:

The city's population grew 1.2 percent last year to reach 4,045,873 residents as of Jan. 1, 2008, according to the state Department of Finance.

Overall, California's population grew 1.3 percent last year to 38,049,462 people. Los Angeles County's population grew 0.9 percent to 10,363,850.

But just in case you are feeling cramped these days, some good news for ya: Fewer people are moving to California.
