Saving Glendale's Mid-Century Courthouse

glendalecourt

The state is threatening to tear down Glendale's mid-century courthouse, and as Friend of Franklin Avenue Chris Nichols notes, it's time for some action:

Have you ever seen the great 1958 Glendale courthouse on Broadway across from City Hall? It is a very special midcentury modern building that is completely original and really beautiful. See attached photo. There is a plan to replace it with a new courthouse and retain just the facade and I'm hoping you can join me in writing a letter asking the state to include the historic courthouse in their plans. There are photos and background here.

It will only take a minute to shoot off an email and it will help a lot. Here's a sample.

I hate that place so does everyone else who has been arrested and had to go to court here AND those even that have not been arrested but the unfortunate pleasure of coming here for some reason or another. It's not beautiful it iS disgusting yeah the hallway here is cool but please have a go around of the place. I'm a member of Hollywood Heritage so I'm all for saving places however this is pointless too much money will be put into it .... And for what? This place is a typical depressing courthouse with the grimmest can't be fixed 60's look! Ask to see the back go ahead it's atrocious to say the least! The staff is rude the guards that check your stuff before entering don't care because they really wanted to be the cops they see all day oh and they have communist judges. GOOD RIDDANCE I SAY!
