At the second annual IndieWire Honors, held Nov. 1 at the No Name bar in Los Angeles, "Fresh Off the Boat" and "Crazy Rich Asians" star Constance Wu was among eight filmmakers and actors honored for their achievement in creative independence. Above, I talk to Wu about her amazing 2018 — how "Crazy Rich Asians" was the first major studio picture featuring a predominantly Asian American cast in 25 years, and how "Fresh Off the Boat" has become the first show with an Asian American cast to make it into syndication.
