FRANKLIN AVENUE CONTEST: Win Greek Theatre/Gibson Ampitheatre Concert Tix

Here's your chance to check out Sonic Youth (above, in "Simpsons" form), Snow Patrol, Erasure, New Edition, Loreena McKennitt or another artist set to perform as part of the Gibson Amphitheatre and the Greek Theatre's joint 2007 Premiere Marquee Club Season.

The PMC contacted Franklin Avenue to award one of you readers with tix to the show of your choice... just as long as we tell you a little bit about their program. Hey, it's a fair trade. So here goes.

Under the PMC (not to be confused with the not-so-music-friendly PMRC), fans can get preferred seating, advanced notice of events, parking discounts and other amenities at Greek and Gibson shows by signing up for several concerts at once. Platinum members buy 8 or more shows; Gold members, between 5 and 7 shows; and Silver members, between 3 and 4 shows. You pay for the shows; the club itself is free.

Nederlander, which manages and books the Greek, and LiveNation, which manages and books the Gibson, are behind the joint promotion (which they promote as a "make your own concert package" deal). But there's a window to signing up for the Premiere Marquee Club -- and you only have until Tuesday, April 3, to sign up for this year's promotion. (More info here.) Other words, get off your butt.

Artists performing at the Greek this year include The Fray, Tony Bennett, Celtic Woman and Loreena McKennitt, Alison Krauss and Union Station, Stevie Nicks and Chris Isaak, Chicago, Snow Patrol, Michael Buble and the "True Colors" benefit concert featuring Cyndi Lauper, Erasure, Debbie Harry, The Dresden Dolls and host Margaret Cho.

Gibson Amphitheatre will offer Kathy Griffin and George Carlin, New Edition, Alejandro Sanz, Ana Gabriel, Marco Antonio Solis, Rick Springfield, and Poison with Ratt.

You heard me. Poison and Ratt on the same bill.

OK. You get the drift. And I'm now going to give you free concert tix, so stop bitching that I've whored out. You're just as dirty as I am. Now, here's something nice and shiny for being such a loyal Franklin Avenue reader.

Wanna win tix to one of the Gibson or Greek shows this year? I've got an assignment for you. As you know, one of Sonic Youth's side projects was Ciccone Youth -- which covered Madonna's "Into the Groove" (and even sampled parts of the song) with the track "Into the Groovey."

Name three more examples of intentionally ironic covers of 1980s songs -- title and artist. Blogger Toddler will draw the winner from all entries. Post your entries in the comments (include your email!) -- or, if you want to keep private, email us.
