More Independent Store Closings: Atwater Village's Under the Table
(Flickr pic by Atwater Village Newbie.)
The recession continues to hit the mom-and-pop boutiques across the city -- with several stores of Northeast Los Angeles set to shut down in the coming days.
We mentioned the other day how Eagle Rock's Rockin Kid Shop is closing down any day now.
Over in Atwater Village, where boutique Amelia Fitzwater shut down last summer, the shop Under the Table is now closing as well.
Connected to the Black Maria Gallery, Under the Table began in 2007 as a way to sell extra art work from their gallery -- but soon expanded to include a wide array of works and collectibles.
We've also spotted several items on sale there from pals JustJenn and Emmie.
Sadly, in this economy, small stores with high-end -- and high-priced -- merchandise are finding things extra difficult. Under the Table is currently selling select items at 50% off.
