As a KCRW subscriber, I've carried my membership card around with me, but have never used it. That is, until earlier this week, when I called in and won concert tickets from the eclectic radio station. As a result, Maria and I are going to see the Sea and Cake at the Henry Fonda Theater tonight. The Sea and Cake are out of Chicago; we used to play them at WNUR. They've got a mellow, minimalist sound that's actually perfect for a rainy day like today.
What's that, you say? It's raining in sunny Southern California? Yup, alert the local news media, who I'm sure are already on STORMWATCH! Forget the impending war, it's raining outside! And sure enough, it's currently the lead story on KNBC's website. Followed by a story on Robert Blake and an "Amber Alert." Ahh, love them local TV news priorities!
