At a little after 8 am this morning, I was transfixed on the KTLA morning news as they became witness to a hit-and-run and proceeded to follow and film the getaway car as it drives maniacally through morning traffic. Jennifer York, their morning commute reporter, was covering the truck accident on the 101 freeway and spotted the driver in the white vehicle as he maneuvered around other cars to get off the freeway, driving over cones blocking off an exit, and subsequently hitting a black car. I think the black car tried to follow the car that hit him to no avail.

Enter Jennifer and her trusty helicopter pilot. They continued to follow the white car as he made illegal turns and drove recklessly almost hitting a couple other cars. In the meantime, the people at the studio called the LAPD as Jennifer reported his up-to-the-minute whereabouts.

It seemed almost comical as Carlos Amezcua tried to summarize it all by saying something like, "So, we are creating our own pursuit here, our very own car chase." Rightfully so, as everyone in the studio was in agreement that justice should be served.

As a victim of a hit-and-run accident myself, it felt good seeing this happen. Hooray, Jennifer York and Mr. Helicopter Man. Hooray KTLA morning news!

The pursuit ended as a squad car finally caught up with the white car. The driver, clueless or maybe still trying to get away with it, kept driving into a gas station where he proceeded to get out of his car to "get gas." I think he finally got it when 5 LAPD police cars surrounded him and made their arrest.
