The L.A. Times looks at the power lunch phenomenon in Hollywood. The true power lunches take place at just two places, the newspaper notes: The Grill in Beverly Hills and Barney Greengrass, atop the Barney's New York store (also in Beverly Hills). I've been to both a number of times, and I gotta tell you: They're disappointing. Power, shmower. I still judge a restaurant by its food, and the food at both restaurants is unremarkable. The Grill, of course, is big on steaks, which I'm not wild over, and Barney Greengrass is heavily deli, something else I just never got into. Maybe I just can't buy into the whole power mystique that exists at both places. I love a more mellow restaurant with a funky vibe and small, adventurous menu--even for business lunch.
