Rant of the day is directed at Bank of America, the behemoth that's to banking what Starbucks is to coffee: It's inevitable you'll do business with them, since they're on every street corner. But you still feel kind of yucky everytime you do so.
Bank of America touts the fact that it has ATMs all over the place. And indeed, that's what makes ol' B of A so attractive. But here's their dirty little secret: Most of the ATMs in a large chunk of Los Angeles close down after dusk. That's right. If you're not living on the west side, chances are you won't find an ATM that works past 8 p.m. Suddenly they've mysteriously gone "Temporarily Out of Service." I know, it's probably a security issue, but it's one that B of A doesn't publicize. Makes you wonder how B of A determines which neighborhoods are dicier than others.
And why, by the way, B of A hasn't followed the trend in the rest of the country of placing their ATMs inside a secured room accessible only by an ATM card, as opposed to putting them out in the open.
And that's our Rant of the Day, sponsored by Washington Mutual Bank!
