Sobering Thought of the Day
According to the Los Angeles Times, the average person takes in 62.4 pounds of high fructose corn syrup a year, and 64.7 pounds per person of refined sugar. According to the paper: "With waistlines expanding, the fattest and richest country in the world continues to look for nutritional scapegoats. Now that a high-fat diet is no longer our sole dietary demon, all varieties of sugar have made a comeback as logical culprits"--and at the top of the list, that mysterious "high fructose corn syrup" that wasn't invented until the late 1960s, but now appears in just about everything.
