More changes on the Los Angeles Times comics pages... as of today, "The Wizard of ID" has been replaced with a new entry, "Brewster Rockit: Space Guy."
Here's how the Tribune Media Services comics website describes the comic, which comes from Tim Rickard: Brewster Rockit is an unlikely captain. He’s woefully ill-prepared to lead … and that’s part of his charm. Orbiting the stars in the space station R.U. Sirius, Brewster and his crew of misfits encounter a constantly challenging set of interplanetary anomalies. Brewster Rockit: Space Guy! pushes the limits of space, time and humor.
It was probably time to let "The Wizard of ID" go. That comic has been around since 1964; how many different ways can you come up with the same "The King is a fink" jokes?
Of course, the other reason for the switch is good ol' fashioned synergy. "Wizard of ID" comes from Creators Syndicate, while the new "Brewster Rockit," as I mentioned, is distributed by LA Times parent Tribune.
