Both the L.A. Times and Daily News warn today: Southern California's about to fry.
After a cooler-than-normal August, when temperatures remained mostly in the mid-80s, September will be hotter. (Not-so-good news for those of us without central air. Gentlemen, start your fans.)
Writes the Daily News: August was cool. September will be cruel.
From Aug. 1 through Monday, Los Angeles was below its norm of an 84-degree high, a low of 65 and an average daily temperature of 75 degrees.
August in Los Angeles has been slightly cooler than normal for a few years now. August 2003 was half a degree below normal and August 2002 was 4.5 degrees below normal.
