PETA ATTACKS NBC OVER BIASED REPORTING ON SIEGFRIED AND ROY

Activists Angry That Animals’ Side of the Story Wasn’t Told

New York — Shouting, “Shame on NBC!,” members of PETA will gather outside NBC’s New York studios Friday to protest the network’s Wednesday night special Siegfried and Roy: The Miracle, which the group says was a biased, misleading, thinly disguised promotion of the network’s panned cartoon series that glamorizes the couples’ nightclub act. Frank Hagan—who until last month was a lion handler with Feld Entertainment, producers of the Siegfried and Roy show—will be present to talk about exactly what goes on behind the scenes of big-cat acts.

Date: Friday, September 17
Time: 1 p.m.
Place: 30 Rockefeller Plz., between 49th and 50th streets (near the gold statue of Prometheus)

Despite the fact that PETA provided NBC with detailed information about big-cat attacks and cruel behind-the-scenes training methods, NBC failed to include any of this information in the program, instead choosing to repeat the duo’s incredible claim that the tiger was “protecting” Roy. Experts, including Louis Dorfman, a Dallas big-cat handler, have publicly disputed that claim, saying that the tiger was displaying typical predatory behavior. Big-cat expert Jonathan Kraft told the media at the time of the attack: “The cat wasn’t trying to protect him. The cat was going for the jugular. That was a typical killing bite.”

JERMAINE DUPRI REVEALS THAT HE AND GIRLFRIEND JANET JACKSON GO TO "STRIP CLUBS" TOGETHER

Dupri Also Defends Jackson's Superbowl "Wardrobe Malfunction"

BURBANK, Calif. - September 16, 2004 - In an interview with "Access Hollywood," music producer Jermaine Dupri says that he and girlfriend Janet Jackson started going to "strip clubs" together after the pop star developed a "curiosity" about them. The interview airs on "Access Hollywood," Thursday, September 16, 2004 (check local listings for time and station).

Dupri says that Jackson developed an interest in strip clubs after visiting him and his friends in Atlanta. "She wanted to go because in Atlanta, the strip clubs are the culture," he says. "Janet had that...curiosity. Like, 'I hear y'all talk about (them)...I see the videos, I want to go to a club.'"

The songwriter also says that taking Jackson to strip clubs with him and his friends is his way of keeping an open and honest relationship with her. "I felt like, if I didn't take her she was going to think I was hiding something," he says. "I think most guys who don't take their girl to a strip club--they're hiding something. I take my girl to the strip club with me and let her see what's going on. It is what it is. We go, we spend money. They dance, they take off their clothes. We go home."

TEMPUR-PEDIC MATTRESSES STAR ON THE APPRENTICE 2

Contestants Sleeping Soundly in New York Suite

LEXINGTON, KY – (September 10, 2004) – While contestants on the NBC hit reality show The Apprentice 2 focused on the boardroom during last night’s season premiere, they found the bedrooms in their New York suite much more comfortable.

Tempur-Pedic® International Inc. provided its revolutionary pressure-relieving Swedish Mattresses™ for use on The Apprentice during its first season. Sleep is so important to the success of the contestants’ tasks, that the producers asked Tempur-Pedic to provide them again on the second season. The company agreed without hesitation.

“When we were approached about outfitting the suite, we felt like it would be a good opportunity to generate some exposure for our company on screen and through The Apprentice Website,” said Dany Sfeir, senior vice president of marketing for Tempur-Pedic International Inc. “No one knew that the show was going to be such a hit. We’re excited to be involved with the show’s second season.”

So, while The Apprentice’s 18 new contestants may be feeling the pressure in the boardroom, they’ll sleep comfortably at night thanks to Tempur-Pedic mattresses.

THE NEW SERIES OFFERS AN EXCLUSIVE LOOK AT BOBBY BROWN AND HIS LIFE UNSCRIPTED

LOS ANGELES - September 15, 2004 - Bravo partners with B2 Entertainment and Bobby Brown's Brownhouze Entertainment for the much-anticipated unscripted series "Being Bobby Brown." The ten episode one-hour series will explore the life of the Grammy-winning performer as he faces transition and moves to put his life and career back on track. The series is slated to premiere on Bravo by second quarter 2005.

The series follows Brown, his wife, pop superstar Whitney Houston and his extended family over the course of six months as they put their respective lives back together. The series will also demystify Brown's relationships with Houston; their daughter, Bobbi Kristina; his children from previous relationships, La Princia and Bobby Jr.; and his brother Tommy, Bobby's personal manager.
