Power's Got the Power

Part Two of Los Angeles' fall Arbitron trends are out, and once again KPWR/105.9 FM ("Power 106")is far and away the market leader, at least among listeners 12+.

LARadio.com's Don Barrett has the analysis:

There is a familiar story at the top – “Power 106” continues its dominance in 12+ followed by KFI, KROQ, KIIS/KVVS and Spanish KLVE. Stations up at least .3 from the previous phase include: KFI, The WAVE, KLSX, KSCA, and KABC.

The two all-News stations are within a tenth of a point of each other: KNX with 1.7 and KFWB up a tenth at 1.6. KYSR continues to go in the wrong direction, hitting their lowest 12+ numbers with a 1.7. Sports KSPN had a 0.7 while the two XTRA Sports stations combined with a 0.5.

The phase dates for this rating period is August 26 - November 17. Stay tuned for the "real" numbers in January when September drops off and is replaced by December (actually 11.18 -12.15). It will be interesting to see the Arbitron impact of KROQ's Acoustic Christmas, KIIS Jingle Ball, KTWV's ‘Trip an Hour,’ and all the marketing, promotions and contesting done by stations for the Fall report. We'll also see the first book for K-DAY. Will L.A.'s new Hip-Hop station shake up the Urban arena?
