Cowboying with Robert Blake

A few more tidbits from the Blake aquittal:

:: In the comments from our late Blake post, reader KD shares a run-in with the Blake acquittal party:

I own an antiques/gift shop across from the farmers' market. I often get celebs and their reps in and out on a regular basis, so when I rec'd a call yesterday for a bunch of sizes of baby Uggs for some "well known celeb" I didn't blink or even care to ask who their boss was.

Whatever. In comes the assistant to pick up her order only to loudly announce that she works for "so and so" (ok, so it was a well-known celeb) but that she used to work for Blake and she and hers are celebrating the good news.

Loud enough for all to hear she tells me that there is a big celebratory party at "such and such" restaurant and could I deliver her 2 newly added gift baskets there. Um, sure.

Out of curiosity I delivered them myself. What a scene! Blake was hopped up big time. Lots of hanger ons. I found it ironic that the entire mess started at a restaurant and ended at one. Bizarre.

:: Meanwhile. coincidentally, Joe, Denise and I had lunch Thursday with a woman who happened to own the house in front of the parked car where Bonnie Lee Blakely was shot! This woman (who we'll keep nameless) was out of town the night of the crime -- but in his testimony, Blake claimed he went to her house first for help. When no one answered, he hit the house next door.

Our lunch date still had to actually testify in court, to confirm that she was out of the country when Blake supposedly knocked on her door for help. She said Vitello's was packed Wednesday, following the verdict.
