Desperate to Relocate Out of Glendale

So much for "Desperate Housewives" supporting actor James Denton's heralded move to Glendale.

According to Celebrity Justice, Denton -- who plays plumber Mike Delfino, the romantic interest of Teri Hatcher's character on "Desperate Housewives" -- has been forced to leave our fair suburb after a "big national magazine" ran a photo of their house.

Says the syndicated show: Strangers started showing up -- so now the Denton family is packing up.

"Yeah, we're going to move," Denton said. "We've been in the house for about six weeks, so we're not happy about that. When you've got kids, you know, David Letterman had that problem with his child. So you've got to be aware of it, and you've got to take precautions."

As first revealed in March by the L.A. Times' notorious "Hot Property" column, Denton bought the home for "just" $800,000 -- which not only raised my eyebrows, but caught the attention of L.A. Times columnist Steve Lopez.

Lopez wrote an entire column expressing shock that Denton would choose to buy a smallish house in Glendale (Glendale!) of all places:

First of all, you don't usually see any "hot property" priced that low. There have been people in (writer Ruth) Ryon's column who probably paid $800,000 for a doghouse.

I know $800,000 is nothing to sneeze at. But Denton was just picked by People magazine as one of the sexiest men alive, or sexiest new star or some such thing, and TV Guide had him on the cover in a lusty embrace with Hatcher.

I'm not saying you don't occasionally see sexy people moving and grooving under the bright lights of Glendale, but it's not the glitziest burg in greater Los Angeles. Real plumbers buy houses for just under $800,000 in Glendale.

I'm guessing Denton's next house won't be a $350,000 cottage in Fontana.

UPDATE: According to the Daily News, it was US Weekly. (Tip via TV Tattle.)
