Faith in Humanity (and "The Amazing Race") Restored

I'd be remiss to let the day go by without mentioning the thrilling finale of Franklin Avenue's patron reality show, The Amazing Race.

CBS and "TAR," all is forgiven. Married couple Uchenna and Joyce Agu, who played the game with more dignity and respect than any other team, capitalized on a few last-minute lucky breaks to cross the finish line first and win the show's $1 million prize.

Maria was ready to break off relations with "TAR" if reality villains Rob and Amber wound up winning (which they almost did, had a pilot not allowed Uchenna and Joyce on their flight to Miami -- and/or had Rob and Amber's cabbie known how to speak Spanish). I was a tad more willing to accept their victory -- I hate to admit it, but they played to win.

Still, I'm glad in the end I didn't have to try and justify my bitter, bitter disappointment. The thrill of seeing Uchenna and Joyce cross the finish line -- and watching Rob and Amber attempt to be good sports -- made for some amazing TV.

In the end, the seventh season of "The Amazing Race" delivered.

Even though an online betting site had actually spilled the beans at the start of the season. As I wrote here this March in Variety:

Earlier this month, Sportsbook.com announced that it had halted betting on the winner of CBS' "The Amazing Race 7" after detecting a sharp increase in money placed on one team (potential spoiler alert) -- Uchenna and Joyce Agu.

Eye, of course, won't comment on whether the married duo ultimately win the "Race." But if history is any guide, they're a good bet.

Still, through the power of editing, I was on the edge of my seat until the very end.
