Rob & Amber single-handedly ruined The Amazing Race for me

I know this post will probably make Mike nervous -- but what the hell, this is my blog too. The reality show we've championed since the very first episode has been causing me much disappointment every Tuesday night these days.

Fine, Rob and Amber were pretty crafty in manipulating some other teams (and I think that won over people on their side). But, this game is not Survivor. This game is about adventure, for both the mind and body. Every Tuesday night, all we now see are Rob and Amber gleefully bragging about how they outwitted the other team.

Take last night's show. A local Brit accompanied them to each stop in London, helping them through the Sherlock Holmes riddle. Being recognized and getting tons of help is no sweat off their back. I mean, people offer to help them out -- Rob and Amber don't even have to ask!

And why are they winning prizes every time they get to the pit stop first? That's completely fine if other teams who make it first win prizes too. But, in this installment of TAR, not every pit-stop winner has scored a trip. Lynn and Alex came in first twice and never won anything and last week, Uchenna and Joyce were denied a prize as well.

Oh, how I hate Rob and Amber. The permanent smirk on Amber's face makes my blood boil.

Even if Rob and Amber do not win the race, they've already gone through an adventure of a lifetime. They've robbed some other team of that adventure. What used to be great about TAR is the casting and how relationships sprinkle the drama of the game. Where's the drama in Rob and Amber? In fact, a co-worker of mine went through a couple rounds of casting for this race... I can't help but think that I could've been watching them instead.

Hmmmm, I wonder if the producers of Survivor would ever put a TAR contestant on their show?
