Journalist Porn

You don't enter journalism to get rich. Trust me. Yet fictional reporters, be it on TV or in films (granted, you don't see many these days) seem to get by pretty nicely on their salaries.

Emmanuelle Richard was particularly taken back by ABC's upcoming thriller "The Night Stalker" (a new take on the early 70s series). She notes:

I was watching the tape of an upcoming ABC TV series called Night Stalker, when the hero, a young journalist for a mid-sized paper in Los Angeles (the Daily News?) leaves the editorial offices and heads home. He jumps in a sports car and drives to... a glass house in the Hollywood Hills! Superb! It looks a lot like the architectural jewel on the famous Julius Shulman photo (above.) You see the journalist dreamily typing the night away, while contemplating the plunging view of Los Angeles under the stars.

No way this is possible, unless he came from money or had knocked over a few hundred convenience stores. While selling meth to the neighborhood kids in the back of a faux ice cream truck.
