No Laughing Matter

While Plamegate seems to get less attention at the moment (seems to be all missing-girl-in-Aruba-all-the-time on the cable nets), The Laugh Factory, of all places, held a candlelight vigil last Saturday to support imprisoned New York Times scribe Judith Miller. The club said it got a huge turnout, and was determined to "not let America forget about Judith Miller's plight."

In an email, the Sunset Blvd. club's Eric Peterkofsky told me that Laugh Factory owner Jamie Masada, "a very big free speech supporter," was behind the event.

"The standup comedy business is completely based on 'speech,'" he wrote.
