Rate-A-Restaurant, #72 in a series

Restaurant: Tarantino's Pizzeria

Location: 784 E. Green St, (Pasadena)

Type of restaurant: Pizza

We stipulated: Anthony and Candice, with little Sophia (one of Blogger Baby's several gal pals) were coming up to visit, and we sold them on the idea of hitting Casa Bianca in Eagle Rock. After raving to them about the best pizza in town, we were sad to find Casa Bianca closed for vacation. Maria remembered eating at Tarantino's several years ago, so we hopped on the 134 and headed a few miles east.

What we ordered: Caesar salad (grande -- $7.25); "The Works" pizza ($19.50); "Tucci's special" pizza -- shrimp, garlic, tomatoes and basil ($19.75)

High point: I think we all agreed that the "Tucci's special" was quite decent. Also, it's a very family-friendly joint, perfect to bring two babies (Sophia and Evan met at least one other baby there).

Low point: Where to begin? Service was extremely rude. We were forced to stand outside for at leats 45 minutes, because they wouldn't sit us at one of several 4-person tables (we tried to tell them that the babies would stay on our laps). When I finally decided we should order, even if we didn't have a table yet, the woman working the cash register just rolled her eyes.

Overall impression: The pizza was decent, but unfortunately the meal was overshadowed by the absolutely poor service. Casa Bianca, your vacation can't end soon enough for us.

Chance we will go back: Nope, I can safely say there was no compelling reason for us ever to return.
