Lucky You Live Mission Viejo... Compton? Not So Much.

Publisher Morgan Quitno has released its 12th Annual America's Safest (and Most Dangerous) Cities survey, and several Southern California communities made the list... both of 'em.

First off, good news for Franklin Avenue (yes, it's all about us): Glendale ranks as the ninth-safest city in the country with a population between 100,000 and 499,999 (out of 208 cities). That's right, you can suck it, Burbank and Pasadena.

Now, on to the over all list. Making the top 25 "safest city list": Mission Viejo, Thousand Oaks, Lake Forest, Irvine and Simi Valley. (None of which are in L.A. county, sadly).

Making the top 25 "most dangerous" city list: Compton and San Bernardino. Meanwhile, Los Angeles County squeaks onto the "most dangerous" metro area list, clocking in at No. 25 (thanks, Compton!).
