Blood for Beer

In memory of her late sister Laura, 5th and Spring blogger Celia, who I had the pleasure of finally meeting at the Ambassador Wake, is helping throw a blood drive next Saturday, March 31.

Donors will get a goodie bag, including a lotto ticket and a coupon good for free beer at Coles, where an afterparty is being held. Sounds like a good way to see a cool downtown penthouse (where the drive is being held) and party at an L.A. landmark. Celia emails the details:

On Friday, March 31st, my good friends Ali and Adam will be hosting another Blood Drive in memory of my sister, their friend and beloved Cole's regular, Laura Esguerra Adams (July 5, 1969 - September 3, 2005).

Friend from Kaiser will be drawing your blood at Adam's Penthouse (home of the best unobstructed views of the downtown Los Angeles skyline). The Blood Drive will be held from 12 p.m. - 8 p.m.

Email RSVPs and signups to Ali (amazarei@travelzonellc.com) or call (714-715-1685) to set up an appointment ASAP -- appointments can be at the top of each hour to cut down your wait. The drive will start by appointment at 12 p.m. and continue until all the people signed up are done...

Lunch will be provided for all donors. All donors will also receive a thank you goodie bag which includes a Super Lotto Ticket, raffle ticket to win fabulous prizes, and a 2-for-1 gift certificate for FREE PINTS of Spaten at the Cole's after party.

That night, Ali is hosting a party for all our friends and donors at Cole's (you don't have to donate to come). One of the best local bands in town -- I See Hawks in LA -- will be playing in the back room. The free beer will be flowing, and we'll all compare Band-Aids.
