:: In case you didn't read the comments to our post on the name change behind KCRW's Anne Litt-hosted "Weekend Becomes Eclectic," now known as "The A-Track," the radio station's publicity director, Sarah Spitz, fills us in:
"The A-Track" changed names because Anne’s show is now a daily WEEKDAY presence on KCRWMusic.com—and it didn’t make sense to continue calling it “Weekend Becomes Eclectic.” Hence the change.
KCRW officially re-launched KCRWMusic.com today.
:: Things are looking good in the fight to save the Derby building in Los Feliz, reports Save the Derby:
ON THURSDAY MARCH 16TH, THE CULTURAL HERITAGE COMMISSION VOTED 4 TO 1 IN FAVOR OF DESIGNATING THE DERBY, IN ITS ENTIRETY, AS A HISTORIC CULTURAL MONUMENT OF THE CITY OF LOS ANGELES.
SUBJECT TO FINAL APPROVAL BY THE CITY COUNCIL, THE DERBY IS AN OFFICIAL LANDMARK!!!
Enormous thanks to everyone. We are not out of the woods yet, but The Derby could not have come this far without you.
A huge Save the Derby thank you to everyone who wrote an email in support of saving the Derby. The response was overwhelming. Hundreds of letters almost overnight!
(If you still have the urge to write statements of support, send them to us at SavetheDerby@yahoo.com - - we will collect them all and bring them with us when we need them.)
:: As for DESSERT STORM: Day 20, I've still been good. With the exception of a Shamrock Shake on Saturday -- which I sheepishly counted as a late lunch. I got one for Maria -- who'd never had a full one -- as well. And as tasty as it was, it didn't sit well with our stomachs. Which is probably a good thing, because I got the Shamrock jones out of my system.
