Those faux cobblestone crosswalks that popped up around the city two or three years ago -- really, just portions of asphalt with lines cut in to look like stones, and painted red for added effect -- are already starting to fade. If you look above, most of the red paint has been wiped away. (In comparison, the detailed crosswalks in Atwater Village and Historic Filipinotown, among other places, appear to still be holding up.) I wonder if the city will refresh the crosswalks with a new coat of red paint... or realize that they're fighting a losing battle, and move on to something else.
