In Honor of Independence Day: A Star-Spangled TV Station Sign-Off
Remember when TV stations used to actually sign off the air? They'd end their programming day with a dramatic reading of their station ownership and broadcast information, followed by a rousing rendition of the Star Spangled Banner (usually with shots of Air Force fighter jets).
Check out this sign-off from KABC in 1978... love the announcer letting us know all that station info... then get a load of that dramatic reading before the Star Spangled Banner! And you can't beat that cheesy, 70s-era Moog version of the National Anthem. Happy 4th, everyone!
