Rate-A-Restaurant, #110 in a series

Restaurant: Tito's Tacos

Location: 11222 Washington Place, Culver City

Type of restaurant: Taqueria

We stipulated: It was a rare day off, and Mike and I found ourselves in Culver City. We've been wanting to try Tito's Tacos forever, having read nothing but raves on other blogs. When it comes to tacos, we're still true Yuca's believers. But it was time to sample Tito's for ourselves.

They stipulated: Cash only. No other taco but beef on the hard shell.

What we ordered: Two beef tacos, no cheese; One beef taco with cheese; and one beef and bean burrito.

High point: The beef tacos -- the meat is flavorful and moist and the hard taco shell is super crunchy.

Low point: Not much seating to accomodate the mass of people doing their pilgrimage to Tito's Tacos.

Overall impression: As we waited in line figuring out what to order (and we must've changed our mind ten different times) it became very clear from everyone around us that you should not stray from ordering the beef tacos. In fact, when we were trying to decide if we should order a tamale the guy in front of us (a loyal Tito's customer hailing from Covina) shook his head "no" and that was that. Don't even bother ordering the burrito, we just did for research's sake.

Tito's has the ingredients for that kind of staying power: loyal customers and simply good food.

Chance we will go back: Yes.
