The New Power Lunch Hot Spot (Sorry, Grill on the Alley)

The power's shifting east, from Beverly Hills spots like the Grill, to the new Nancy Silverton/Mario Batalio hotspot Mozza.

Why do I say this? Earlier this week I hit Mozza for lunch, and immediately spied "Everybody Loves Raymond" creator Phil Rosenthal (who's also an investor in Mozza) at one table. Then, in walked Paramount honcho Brad Grey. A few minutes later, producer extraordinaire James L. Brooks found a table. (And that's just a few names. At least two high-profile agents were also there, and who knows who else I didn't see.)

Can you blame them? The Silvertonian/Batalian cuisine (no lie -- that's how the Mozza press kit classifies the restaurant type) continues to wow. Particularly enjoyed the fried squash blossoms with ricotta, the fennel sausage pizza and the butterscotch pudding (oh so salty sweet and good).
