KCRW's new "Sounds Eclectic: The Covers Project" compilation sounds pretty good -- I'm intrigued just by the Magic Numbers' cover of Beyonce's "Crazy in Love."
But you won't find it in your neighborhood CD store -- well, maybe if you're in Los Angeles. But KCRW is going nationally with the CD via Starbucks, which will put the compilation up for sale in several markets.
Nic Harcourt -- who always sounds like he could use a Venti cuppa black in the morning -- mentioned this morning that the deal, with Starbucks' Hear music subsid, "opens up the CD to a much larger audience... It won't just be buried in the back of a record store somewhere."
