Star 98.7 Cuts The Blade

I know I'm late to this, but it's too bad to hear that KYSR-FM Star 98.7 has dumped local 80s radio icon Richard Blade (above, at the Star board).

Blade continues as a DJ for Sirius radio, and also has taken up TV writing -- he recently penned the Lifetime movie "Long Lost Son."

Most of you still remember Blade from his long stint on KROQ (including "Flashback Lunch"), as well as his appearances in movies such as "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun" and the Depeche Mode doc "101."

He quit KROQ in 2000 to move to the Carribean, but eventually returned and began working on TV shows like VH1's "Bands Reunited" and CBS' "Rock Star: INXS." He joined Star in 2004, hosting a "Totally 80s" weekend show, and took over the weeknight evening slot last August.

Most recently, Blade created the new Animal Planet show "My New Wild Life."
