Ridin' Low in Elysian Park
Maria, Evan and I were in Elysian Park on Sunday afternoon to attend the birthday party of one of his little friends. The party was located near a playground on Stadium Way. Not too long after we arrived, so did the tricked-out, hydraulically redesigned low riders. It was like our own personal episode of "Pimp My Ride."
Up and down the street, the riders grooved their cars to music, opening and closing their DeLorean-style doors and showing off their waxed-up, pimped-out babies.
Coincidentally, Cindy Bennett was there too on Sunday -- and shot some fantastic photos (like the one above, which I remember -- how could you forget a display like that?) for LA Observed's Chicken Corner blog. She has more pics there as well.
Wanna see the spectacle yourself? Head to Elysian Park around 12:30 pm next Sunday. I'm sure you'll spot the cars.
(Speaking of cars, congrats to my dad and his baby -- the XK8 Jaguar, furthest on the right above -- for winning the "Driven class" first prize at a recent Jaguar show near his house!)
