FREE L.A.: Pasadena's Levitt Pavilion

Last year Maria, Blogger Toddler and I brought a picnic dinner to Pasadena's Levitt Pavilion and enjoyed the Bob Baker Marionettes under the stars -- for free.

This year, the Marionettes are back -- along with a ton of other free showcases, as the Levitt Pavilion for the Performing Arts announced its fifth annual free admission summer concert series, in Pasadena's Memorial Park:

Our star studded line-up will feature grammy award winning Luis Conte & Cuba L.A., “The First Lady of the Levitt” Barbara Morrison, Cheb I Sabbah, Wayne Vaughn (Earth, Wind, & Fire songwriter/producer), Quetzal, Francisco Aguabella, The Millers, Bobby Matos, and many more. The concerts run Wednesday through Sunday from June 27th- September 2nd and feature a different theme every night:

Wednesday- Children’s Night
Thursday- World Beat
Friday- R&B Night
Saturday- Musica Latina
Sunday- Jazz Night

The Levitt Loves Kids program, featuring phenomenal local youth talent, continues this summer at 6:30pm every Wednesday and Sunday before the Children’s and Jazz night concerts.

Those free Wednesday night childrens shows are one of the great no-cost activities to check out with your kids. I'm also thinking the world beat night has some good options. Check out the Levitt Pavilion's website for more info and concert schedules. And don't forget to pack a picnic dinner.
