I loves me some free stuff. In college, I even considered writing a book that detailed my poor, collegiate, cheapskate ways. (I lived across the street from Taco Bell, and let's just say my one cup could be stretched to several weeks of free refills.)
That's why I've gotta thank Blogging.la for pointing me to The Really Really Free Market.
The event takes place this Saturday at 9 a.m. in the parking lot of Bresee Nazarene Church at 1480 E. Washington Blvd in Pasadena. And apparently the rule is simple: Bring things to give away for free. And take free things you'd like.
Organizer John Loghry writes:
The last RRFM was a great success, but it was TOO HOT! This next time, there will be a rest area in the basement, with plenty of shade, Kool-Aid and cookies. Also, there will be a coloring station for the kids, and we’re going to try to hook up an Atari game station and a Nintendo game station for the kids and the adults. Also, we have plenty of ceramic beads left over from last time, so bring shoe-laces to make necklaces (or bags and boxes to take them with you; we still have thousands).
A lot of people got clothing, books, records, dishes, etc. at the last event, and a lot of them were from low-income situations. This was a great time of community solidarity. A few people thought it was a gimmick to get people into church, so I want to extend a special invitation to people from all religious and spiritual traditions- the RRFM belongs to the entire community, so everyone is welcome.
