Is the Buff Monster being ironic, or is he really waging an anti-grafitti battle?
BTW, the artist -- who hails from Hawaii and now lives in L.A. -- has a cool new website here. The Buff Monster's art and toys, usually bright and bubbly, is "inspired by heavy metal, kawai (Japanese cute culture), kaiju (Japanese monsters), the naked female body, Hollywood and ice cream. To me, they are all the same: timeless, bold, unforgiving and awesome."
UPDATE: The Buff Monster responds,
I could talk about graffiti for days, but suffice it so that I think there are so many bad vibes associated with it. And I’m really about good vibes. The poster is meant to make people think, not so much influence their actions.
