'Tis The Season... Still

(Flickr pic by miles10001.)

Just as it seems like Christmas starts earlier every year, it seems like it ends later and later as well. Either that, or I'm interpreting my own laziness as part of a larger, non-existent trend.

It's Jan. 6, and we still haven't taken our decorations down. The tree is still there, fully loaded. (Actually, it's a mix of laziness, the rain -- our boxes are in the garage, and I haven't had the urge to brave the downpour to get them -- and Blogger Toddler's persistant demand that we keep it up).

And we're not alone. Outside, the homes up and down the street are still turning the lights on every night. (Of course, Armenian Christmas just too place, which may explain some of that here in Glendale.) In Atwater Village, this weekend the neighborhood Christmas tree (above) was still decorated and being lit nightly.

Meanwhile, at the Burbank Town Center, ads still promote ABC Family Channel's "25 Days of Christmas." Several ads on TV promoting New Year's resolution weight loss use Christmas imagery. And the Christmas stuff is still front-and-center -- and between 50% and 75% off -- at most stores.

Did Christmas flash by so quickly that people don't wanna let it go? Or is there a lot of procrastination going on out there? (Or, again, is it just us?)
