Retro Friday: Los Angeles in the 1940s
Above, some great color shots of Los Angeles 60 years ago (including long-lost treasures like the Hollywood Hotel and the Brown Derby (but half way through, this video suddenly switches gears, and strangely goes to B&W footage of the House Un-American Activities Committee).
Here, a 1937 visit to Olvera Street. Check out the 3:10 point -- La Golondrina, which still serves up food nearly 75 years later (but still isn't the oldest continually operating restaurant in L.A. -- that would be P.E. Cole's).
