Radio Listings Turn to Static at the Los Angeles Times
It was probably only a matter of time, but apparently the Los Angeles Times has eliminated its daily roundup of radio "Tips for Today" in the Calendar section.
The radio listings, which ran on the TV page (under the talk show and movie listings, next to the TV grid), haven't been seen in weeks. At this point, I'm doubting they'll return. In the radio listings place have been ads, sometimes for sister KTLA-TV and sometimes for outside cable or broadcast networks.
I can't say I was surprised; the listings always seemed kind of arbitrary, and rarely changed. Plus, the newspaper has been continuing to downsize local media coverage -- remember, it got rid of its TV Times listings book a few years ago, and its daily TV listings have gotten smaller over the years. Radio may have seemed like too much of a dinosaur for them to continue with the listings.
"Aloha Friday with Bruddah Mike" would sometimes show up in the LA Times' radio listings. It's quite coincidental that my show was canceled right before the newspaper dropped the column. Guess at the very least I'm not missing out there.
