Jello Biafra on the Jerry Brown Screed 'California Uber Alles'
Like probably many of you, I've had the first few lines of the Dead Kennedys' "California Uber Alles" stuck in my head for days now... "I am Governor Jerry Brown/ My aura smiles/ And never frowns/ Soon I will be president..."
The song goes on to depict Brown as a fascist leader... kind of strange, at least compared the policies of his predecessor and future president, Ronald Reagan. Why did Jello Biafra set his sights on Governor Moonbeam? He explains the origins of the song in a 2006 interview with San Francisco public radio station KQED:
