Retro Friday: Emmy Edition
From the 1957 Emmy Awards: Phil Silvers hands out the outstanding writing Emmy -- to the writers from his own show! The most interesting part: No acceptance speeches!
The famed comedy duo of Mike Nichols and Elaine May present an category. at the 1959 Emmy Awards. May gets laughs noting that she has been chosen to present an award devoted to mediocrity. Interestingly, this is back in the days when the Emmys were held on (and telecast from) both L.A. and New York simultaneously.
For the outstanding role of an actress in a leading series, here's Barbara Stanwyck picking up the 1961 Emmy.
Sammy Davis Jr., Ginger Rogers and Joan Crawford at the 1965 Emmys.
Lucille Ball wins her 4th Emmy in 1968 for "The Lucy Show."
