It's 1949, and people are reporting fires! Little fires, big fires, every one wants to report a fire! More than 60 years ago, according to this film, the L.A. Fire Department answered 23,000 alarms each year.

Check out this 1949 educational film (in color!) about the Los Angeles Fire Department. BTW, shouldn't the man at the start of the film be, oh I dunno, RUNNING OUT OF THE HOUSE, rather than calmly calling the fire department with flames and smoke just steps away?
