A Night of Music: Live Performances from "The Voice" Coaches and ABC's Upcoming Comedy "Galavant"

Monday night at Hyde in Hollywood, the coaches from NBC's "The Voice" treated a small audience to an intimate concert, each performing two numbers. It was a bit of a treat to watch Gwen Stefani, Blake Shelton, Pharrell Williams and Adam Levine as they entertained the audience in a small room. Some pics:

Earlier in the evening, I also attended an event for the new ABC musical comedy "Galavant." Created by Dan Fogelman, who wrote "Cars" and "Tangled" (among other movies), "Galavant" is a tongue-in-cheek parody of kings, knights and damsels in distress. What's more, they sing. It's hard to explain. But it works. Alan Menken ("The Little Mermaid," "Aladdin," "Beauty and the Beast") and lyricist Glenn Slater ("Tangled") are behind the tunes on the show, which features a cast of mostly unknowns, peppered with some cool guest stars ("Weird Al" Yankovic, Ricky Gervais, John Stamos, more). At the event, the pilot was shown, the stars performed and the producers discussed where it all came from. Some pics:

Music maestro Alan Menken accompanied the actors on stage as they performed snippets from the show.


As a treat for the audience, Alan Menken played a major medley of his songs (from "Beauty and the Beast," "Aladdin," "Little Shop of Horrors," "The Little Mermaid" and so much more).
