The Antelope Valley California Poppy Reserve is closed, but the Antelope Valley is covered in gold right now — and there are plenty of spots to view them, even up close, at a safe, socially distant spot.
We also went on a weekday, in order to avoid the weekend crowds. As a result, we found spots that were close to the Poppy Preserve, including via dirt roads, in order to avoid others.
Thanks to the recent rains, the poppies are much more majestic than they were originally expected to be this year. While not quite as huge as last year's "super bloom," they're still quite impressive.
